Handuraw Pizza [29 Feb 2012|12:45am]
[ mood | pensive ]

On our second visit to Handuraw Pizza, we ordered the same thing as our first visit. But since it was a Lenten Friday, we couldn't order Pesto Linguini since it has chicken in it. We didn't order the Salmon Harvest Chowder either since I didn't really taste the salmon in it. Haha.

Cream of Kalabasa (Cream of Squash)

Normally, I detest squash. But I absolutely LOVED this soup! The taste and the texture really tempted me to place another order. Luckily Matt talked me out of it. I was stuffed by the end of dinner. XD

Mom & Tina's Bakery Cafe [27 Feb 2012|01:38am]
[ mood | sleepy ]

Finally got to eat a meal at Mom & Tina's! Ever since I saw their menu, I was so excited to eat here! It's like all the food on the menu is comfort food for me! =)

Fish n Chips

I just loved the fish and chips! There was a herby taste in the fish that I really liked. I liked that they had cucumber slices too. Teehee.

Meat Lasagna

At first, the serving looked pretty small. But once you start eating it, it's pretty filling. It was nice and creamy and cheesy! Definitely comfort food if you're feeling bad. =)

Salisbury Steak (Qtr. lb)

When it arrived, I was very pleased! The mashed potatos looked utterly delicious! And I was right! The Salisbury steak was delicious too (though I should've gotten half a pound instead of just a quarter haha). I'm tempted to have this again, but I know I should try other dishes. 'Til next time! =)

Secret Recipe [26 Feb 2012|11:51pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]

Matt and I ate lunch at Secret Recipe, BGC with his parents. The set was good for 5, so we couldn't finish everything. Yay for doggy bagging! :p The set came with salad as one of the appetizers, but it didn't impress me so I didn't take a pic. XD

Cream of Mushroom Soup. I waited for it to cool before eating. I was really disappointed since it barely tasted like anything. =(

Chicken Cordon Bleu. Absolutely loved this!

Fish...

...and chips! ^_^

Spaghetti Bolognese.

Strawberry Shortcake.

This place deserves another visit. =)

Peanut Butter Company [25 Feb 2012|11:49pm]
[ mood | happy ]

I've been curious about Peanut Butter Company eversince Wil made me try Curry Peanut Butter. I didn't think they served food other than peanut butter until another one of my friends told me about their version of Shakey's Mojos. So I suggested that we eat there.

Matt suddenly decided to order this just coz he likes corn. =) So glad he did! It was delicious! Definitely going back for this. =)

Fish Diablo Pasta (definitely not mine! haha spicy!)

Fish n Chips

I didn't really like the chips. The breading was too thick. I liked the fish though. =) But not enough to come back here for them. Lucky for them, I like their creamed corn. Haha!

T.G.I.Friday's [20 Feb 2012|01:21am]
[ mood | happy ]

This entry is related to my previous entry (re: dw cafe) since they happened on the same day (14th monthsary with Matt <3). =) After watching Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, we ate dinner at T.G.I.Friday's. And with our track record of ordering way too much food, we decided to stick to a sampler platter of appetizers and just one burger (coz when we ate at Johnny Rocket's that one time, we each had a burger and were on the verge of bursting haha).

Three-for-all. A sampler of 3 different appetizers. Cheese sticks (or should that be strips?), buffalo wings (SPICY!), and potato halves (*drool*). They each came with a different dip. Salsa, blue cheese, and sour cream respectively.

Our Friday's Chicken. I requested that they cut the burger in half, but I didn't expect them to separate the burger halves to two different plates as well as split the side of fries. It was really considerate of them. =)

I wanna try out the other food here too, but seeing as it's kinda pricey I think we'll complete the menu of dw cafe first. =)

dw cafe [20 Feb 2012|12:53am]
[ mood | happy ]

After I got my iPod Touch, Matt and I went to Digital Walker to get a case and screen protector for it. But my actual motive for going was the cafe beside/attached to the store. When it first opened at Eastwood, I was really curious about what kind of food they served since there wasn't much advertising about it. I guess they can afford to stay open as long as Digital Walker does well.

I was really surprised to see that the dw cafe's specialty was modern Japanese food. At first we didn't know what to order. Luckily they had some photos available of the food. The food looked so good that I couldn't resist taking photos.

But even with the help of these photos, it was still difficult to choose. So we decided to order pastas from the new pasta selection. Matt wanted the Chicken Pasta, so I decided to get the Creamy Spinach Pasta. But I didn't notice the corn in the picture so I was really surprised when the pasta came and I saw so much corn! Haha!

Matt's Chicken Pasta

We plan on trying all the dishes. So expect many more entries about the food from dw cafe. =)

Lunch at Oki Oki Japanese Restaurant [09 Jan 2012|12:18pm]
[ mood | happy ]

Pork Ramen (gotta love chasyu!)

No surprise that this is what I ordered. When it arrived and I saw the sheer density of those veggies, and how they covered all the noodles from view, I knew I'd be giving half of those veggies to Matt. Haha. After getting through the veggies, it was finally time for me to start eating the noodles and chasyu. And oh boy what a treat! I think this is my favorite ramen place to go to. =)

Sutamina Ramen

Matt had the Sutamina Ramen, which is boiled pork with egg and veggies. I would've asked to taste it, but it had spicy soup so pass!

Asupara Bacon Maki

How could I NOT order this?? Ever since I first tried asparagus wrapped in bacon at Kimono Ken, it's become a favorite side dish for me. Plus it's a cheat on veggies. XD

Uni Gunkan

I've only had sea urchin once before and I liked it. I asked Matt if he ate sea urchin before ordering. Luckily he does. =) If this order had more than 2 pieces, I don't think we would've been able to stand up after eating. So full!

And what's great about Oki Oki is that you really get more than what you pay for. The total damage done:

205 for the Pork Ramen
215 for the Sutamina Ramen
175 for the Asupara Bacon Maki
185 for the Uni Gunkan
-------------------------------
780 for the whole meal

Which, given the current exchange rate, is roughly $17.75 (not bad, eh?). Definitely going back again. DEFINITELY. Oh, and I'm very lucky that Matt reminded me to take the photos before digging in. I almost forgot! Low E.Q. and food this good definitely make it difficult to document. XD

Ramen Dinner at Nagomi [31 Dec 2011|11:01am]
[ mood | hungry ]

I've had a cold for the past few days (I still kinda do), so I really wanted some ramen. My officemate recommended Nagomi for some authentic Japanese food. So when Wil asked if I wanted to go out for dinner, I jumped at the chance! I figured I'd invite Elgin since he likes ramen as much as I do.

We each ordered ramen, and shared an order of korokke, and salmon skin roll. I failed to take a pic of the korokke and salmon skin roll. XD

Ristras: Godzilla Burrito [11 Dec 2011|03:23pm]
[ mood | happy ]

The Godzilla Burrito!

That hunka hunka burnin' love up there is Ristras' Godzilla Burrito; 2.5 kilos of heart-stopping goodness!!! This baby is a tray long (yup, that thing under all that foil is a standard tray. The kind you use at a cafeteria) and costs 1,200 pesos. My friends and I ate that monster and were so stuffed that we wanted to walk around just so our tummies wouldn't be so bloated. 5 people were full to the brim. Just imagine ONE person eating it. And that is the Man vs Godzilla Burrito challenge!!!

If you can finish the Godzilla Burrito in 1.5 hours by yourself, it's free! The prize? A full stomach and a shirt. XD And I am proud to say that my crazy-awesome friend Carlito still holds the record for the fastest time at 29 minutes. HOLY. SHIT. I still can't believe it. I wish I'd have been there to see how he paced. Haha!

Gotta love Mexican food!

Citibank's New Minimum Amount Due [05 Dec 2011|11:12pm]
[ mood | amused ]

Surprise, surprise! Remember this entry? Well I just got my Citibank bill totaling at 4,122.71, and was absolutely shocked to see that the minimum amount due was...wait for it...just 500.00! From almost 96% down to 12%! I couldn't believe my eyes!

Christmas miracle? Citibank people reading my blog? No idea. (Most probably the former haha)

My Baby Boy, Snoopy! [19 Nov 2011|06:03pm]
[ mood | tired ]

Beagle puppy =)

Received this little guy yesterday evening. =) He was pretty quiet at first, but come bedtime he was so noisy! I tried calming him down by putting him beside me on the bed. I woke up when Snoopy started whining...and licking my face. I couldn't get him to calm down immediately, so I stayed up for quite a while. It was that moment that I realized why there are parents that shake their babies (no, I didn't shake the puppy!). It can get pretty frustrating.

And now I have a major headache due to lack of sleep. Snoopy falls in and out of sleep now. I just hope he'll stay asleep later tonight. He turns 1 month tomorrow.

Sinfully Delicious: Double Chocolate Fudge Brownie Crêpe [16 Nov 2011|11:23pm]

Carboloading at La Crêperie [13 Nov 2011|05:24pm]
[ mood | happy ]

Matt and I ate lunch at La Crêperie at Eastwood Mall yesterday. He needed to carboload for the Run United 3 run (he registered for 32k), and I've been wanting to eat at La Crêperie for a while now. So yesterday was the perfect excuse to order lots of food!

Mozzarella Sandwiches

My lack of E.Q. when it comes to eating shows yet again! Matt and I started digging into the mozzarella open sandwiches coz they looked just scrumptious! We even started munching on the salad on the side. XD Luckily I remembered to take a photo before we finished everything off! Haha!

The sandwich had tomatoes underneath the cheese. I normally don't like eating tomatoes but I really didn't mind it in this dish. Everything just went so well together! And the bread was nice and crunchy. =)

Pesto Cream Carbonara with Ham and Mushrooms

This was my pasta dish. I'm a real sucker for carbonara so when I saw it on the menu, I just had to order it. At first I wished that they would have used bacon instead of ham, but then the ham was delicious! Add that to the fact that there was a generous serving of both ham and mushrooms. So no complaints. =)

Oh, and the bread was perfection!

Shrimp Pomodoro

When Matt saw that there was pasta with shrimp on the menu, he immediately knew he wanted that. I tried a bit of it, but it wasn't really my thing. I'm more of a white sauce pasta person.

Croque Monsieur

I made the mistake of ordering this since I saw the description (ham and cheese!) and thought it wouldn't be such a big serving. Haha my bad. Don't get me wrong, it was heaven! But I was so full from the mozzarella sandwich and pasta that I couldn't eat another bite! Actually, I had a bite or two. But Matt ate most of it. Thank goodness for his belleh! =)

And last, but certainly not the least, the pièce de résistance!

Mango Peach Nutella Crêpe w/a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream

So I said I couldn't eat another bite, right? But there's always room for dessert. Especially if that dessert is as sinfully good as this! The serving was big enough for sharing. Matt claims he could eat one by himself...and I believe him. Haha! There were so much fruits inside that they were slipping out. The mangoes they used were perfectly ripe (sweeeeet) and the amount of Nutella! *droooool*

And to top off our delicious dining experience, our server was very polite and accommodating. He's the one who suggested that we add the ice cream to our crêpe. We're definitely going back here for dessert. =) And soon!

Dream Job (?) [07 Nov 2011|04:43pm]
[ mood | pensive ]

Recently, I've been entertaining the thought of working abroad. Specifically, I've been thinking about working in Singapore. A number of my former co-workers are now working in Singapore, and they seem pretty happy. Originally, my plan was to work abroad for a couple of years (just long enough to save enough for a house and lot, and maybe a bit for my future children's tuition) then come back here. But seeing as Singapore's population is an aging one, that got me started thinking about actually starting a family there.

But I digress. The point of this post is the dream I had a few days back. I dreamt that I was working in Japan. I think this is because a lot of my co-workers are in Japan at the moment, and that I miss it. After the dream, I started weighing working in Japan as another option. It's closer to home, and I really like Japanese food. Haha! I'm kinda iffy on the language barrier though. I think a higher percentage of the Singaporean population are English-speakers than the Japanese population.

I have a while to think about this.

BPI vs Citibank for Minimum Amount Due [04 Nov 2011|12:56am]
[ mood | sleepy ]

Here are total amounts due and the minimum amounts due of my BPI and Citibank cards, respectively.

BPI
Due: 1,900
Min: 95.00

Citibank
Due: 3,526.16
Min: 3,381.42

I find this really strange. BPI was only requiring me to pay 5% of the total amount due, while Citibank required almost 96% of the total amount due.

If I were a swipe-happy person, I'd definitely choose my BPI credit card since I could buy all the things I want and not worry about not reaching the total amount due since the minimum will always be within my reach.

This is good for the bank since they'll be earning from the interest, and good for me if I don't have enough money to pay the total since I'll still be paying just enough to keep the bank from harassing constantly calling me.

I guess I know what card I'll be using more this holiday season. XD

Cookbook Kitchen: Bacon Mushroom Pasta [29 Oct 2011|08:06pm]
[ mood | hungry ]

I really like pasta, but the downside is that it's so filling! So I can only eat so much before I tap out. Boo. And it's near-impossible to have only a bit since there are some pastas that are so delicious! Here's one of them:

Pasta LOVE

Cookbook Kitchen's Bacon Mushroom Pasta has bits of zucchini in it for that crunch. It also gives a nice contrast to the soft mushrooms and salty bacon. The sauce is super creamy, and the portion is good for sharing. =)

I really need to learn to cook so I can make some good food for myself! Hahaha!

YakiMIX Birthday Lunch [24 Oct 2011|01:47am]
[ mood | hungry ]

Food is vital for survival. It doesn't matter whether you're human or animal. Food is life. But as humans, food is also love. We bond over food. We find comfort in food; whether it's preparing it, serving it, or eating it. We celebrate over food. And just last Saturday, I Matt's birthday at a buffet. His parents decided to have his birthday lunch at YakiMIX at The Podium.

We got there at 5 before noon. After being seated to a table, Matt and I immediately made a beeline to the sushi. I got one of almost everything (except for the spicy stuff). Matt did the same. After eating a few pieces of sushi, we went back for some tempura and raw meats. Yum! After a considerable amount of food later, it was time for dessert. Picture dump below!

Matt's plate (mine wasn't as presentable XD)

Oh yeah, coz we be meat eaters!

MEAT!!! (the effort to cook it was worth it!)

Matt got all this. I just had a taste of each. XD

Multiply. Is. Awesome. [16 Oct 2011|03:50pm]
[ mood | grateful ]

Last week I was majorly bummed since I couldn't find my album of the 1st AdMU bonfire (of the 4-peat). I tried looking for it all over my laptop, and even tried to retrieve it from my external HD. But I couldn't find it on my laptop, and my external HD is broken. My only hope was the copy of the album I uploaded to my Multiply account. The catch: I deleted my account months ago.

So I tried searching the net for a way to retrieve my deleted album. The only solution that I saw was to contact Multiply's Customer Service. After I did, I got a response really quickly! And after answering a few questions verifying that the account is indeed mine, I got it back!!!

Oh the JOY! I immediately downloaded the high resolution copies of all the pictures I'd lost. I am eternally grateful to Multiply for not deleting my albums from their servers. =)

I'm definitely going to be uploading my important albums there from now on.

Budget Food: 7-11 Bacon Omelet [28 Sep 2011|11:53pm]
[ mood | full ]

Got out of the office at around 10pm (again) tonight. So I made a beeline to 7-Eleven to get a Bacon Omelet w/Garlic Rice meal. And to my relief, I found one. It was the last one left, and it was hidden behind the other microwave meals. Sneaky devil. For only 39php, it’s a steal! It’s filling AND it tastes good.

Though I must say, I’m less miserly when it comes to food nowadays since I’ve been working longer hours and things have just been so stressful.

If the supply for it wasn’t so scarce, I’d have it for both lunch and dinner. For you folks on some other side of the globe, that’s roughly less than 2 dollars a day (currently the exchange rate is 1 dollar = 43php). Yay for nomnoms!
